Films tend to always leave a bit of their stardust on the common man. Wherever the cast and crew of any upcoming film go, everyone flocks around to catch a glimpse and a lucky few manage a role in the movie! Chandigarh boasts of seven youngsters who will be playing a part in Karan Johar's next venture, Student of the Year. A launch pad for several new faces in the industry, the movie recently wrapped up its shoot in Dehradun. Among the several production houses, one was handed over the charge of finding the right kind of face for the college shoot. The Theatre Army shouldered the responsibility and did it well. Talking about the experience, Sunny Sheoran, who was responsible for the casting and the production, shares his side of the story. "The one point of working with Dharma productions is that the actors can never be unhappy," he says. Responsible for all the production requirements, Sunny talks about how different the experience was for him. "Karan Johar made it a point to interact with all the crew members with utmost patience and ease," he says. For Shubhi, who has already been a part of Yaaran Naal Bahaaran 2, there is a stark difference between the working of a Bollywood production and a Punjabi film. "There is no doubt that Bollywood is more structured in its approach. Everything happened on time and finished as per schedule," she says. Shubhi is one of the faces who will share screen space with the lead actors. "For the auditions of this one scene, tapes of all the aspirants had gone to Karan Johar for perusal. I feel blessed that I was the chosen one," she smiles. All praise for Karan Johar, the girl could not stop blushing at his mention. "He is one of the best directors to work with. It is just great how he explains everything and is an epitome of patience," she says. If the contrast between Punjabi cinema and Dharma productions was evident, so was the difference between Mausam and this film. Vikas Kamboj, a 23-year-old from Chandigarh, and his twin sister Ritika Kamboj have previously rubbed shoulders with Pankaj Kapoor. "Mausam had very few actors. This film, on the contrary, had so many young faces, making the experience more enriching," shares Vikas. Playing twins in the film added to the whole magic of the shoot for these two girls. "Our clothes, hair-dos and everything had to be coordinated," Ritika says. Sharing an experience Vikas says, "There was a day when all of us went missing and had to be summoned by Karan. Everyone was just screaming, "Where are the Chandigarh girls?" For a young air-hostess in the making, Venus Sharma, it was more about learning professionalism. All of 19, she is 5'7 and her first experience taught her how the entertainment industry works. "It was all work at the shoot. Only in the rarest of the rare cases, the interaction was casual," she says. Professional, yet casual, was the mantra for her during the 20-day shoot.
