Senior Congress leader Lal Singh Kamboj appointed Chairman Punjab Mandi Board

Punjab Government today appointed former minister and senior Congress leader Lal Singh Kamboj as Chairman of Punjab Mandi Board in the rank of cabinet minister. Lal Singh Kamboj was not given party ticket due to one family one ticket formula since his son Rajinder Singh Kamboj was contesting from Samana seat and has won from the Samana Assembly segment. Lal Singh has replaced Ajmer Singh Lakhowal who has resigned after defeat of SAD-BJP government.

Political Career

In politics since 1977, Lal Singh Kamboj has fought eight elections and was elected MLA six times. He has worked with three Chief Ministers – Late Beant Singh, Late Harcharan Brar and Capt Amarinder Singh (2002-07).Apart from working as acting president of the PPCC, Lal Singh has handled the work of the campaign committee of the PPCC during the recently Punjab Vidhan Sabha elections.
